they say diamonds are a girl's best friend, and while i do think they are on to something, i have something even better...
since all my little thank you posts have been in a kind of bedtime story format.. maybe cuz i'm writing them all at bed time...
so here we go :)
it was a no good, very bad day.. one filled with coughing and sneezing and no voice.. a day of laying on the couch watching terrible tv and playing endless games of solitaire on the computer, because even when i'm sick, i have to be doing two things at once...
as i was dying on the couch... my momma left me a two sentence on my MySpace page...
"Did you know there was a fashion school in Irvine?
Love ya!"
My first thought? "duh" of course i knew there was a fashion school in irvine.. FIDM has a campus there..
My second thought? "my mother is one smart cookie"
You see, my mother wasn't telling me something she knew i already knew.. my mother was telling me to get off my @$$ and do something with my life...she was telling me i had been wallowing in my pathetic-ness for long enough... she was giving me the push she knew i needed..
you see, i had sorta lost my way... i had lost the life that i had planned on living... love had left and all i had left was a job that i didn't love and not many friends, due to my pushing them all away.. and all i did was sit on my couch and wallow.. pretty pathetic...
fast forward --- there is my mom... helping me with my entrance projects... being the first call when I got accepted.. helping sort through all my stuff, running garage sales, packing, cleaning, getting me all set to run away from home..
I mean, who's mom actually helps you run away from home? who packs and repacks boxes and your car so that you use every single inch to get in as much as possible?
So to my very best friend on this planet, thank you.
thank you for telling me to run away when you'd really rather me live down the street.
thank you for filling my freezer with your meat loaf so that when i'm missing home, i can have a mom made dinner.
thank you for organizing my tupperware so everytime i open the cabinet i smile.
thanks for answering the phone, multiple times a day, when i'm having one of those days.
thanks for the cards full of coupons.
thanks for making my apartment super cute and all the cleaning you do when you visit :)
thanks for sending care packages
thanks for being my biggest cheerleader, especially when I didn't think I would make it through, when i wanted to quit and run home.
So as I walked across that stage, and earned a degree, know it would have never happened without all your love and support. Thanks for getting me off that couch and starting a new life. I can't wait to see where it goes, but wherever it does, it will be because you got me there.
LOVE YOU!

I love, love, love this. What you and your mom have is very special and something I hope to share with Ella one day. You both rock!
You're a very fortunate girl and I'm so blessed to read your tribute to your mom. I hope AG and I can have a relationship like that when she's all grown up.
